Master
of Arts in Education — Leadership |
The M. A. in
Education with emphasis in Leadership is offered solely as an online
graduate program. This degree program seeks to prepare qualified
educational leaders for institutional, departmental, and classroom
settings; individuals who will evidence an understanding of the processes
and principles of organizational management, as well as an understanding
of their role as instructional leaders. Educators completing this
graduate degree program will be qualified to serve as educational
superintendents, instructional consultants, and trainers for teacher
inservice programs, as well as educational leaders in a variety of institutional
settings.

| Prerequisites |
For admission, a
student must complete the following prerequisites:
- Baccalaureate degree or its equivalent,
with a minimum GPA of 3.00 (4-point scale). A prospective student
who does not meet the entry-level GPA requirement may be admitted
under probationary status and given opportunity to meet this
requirement by earning a 3.00 GPA at AIIAS during the first 12
semester hours.
- Adequate undergraduate preparation in
education to include a minimum of 8 semester hours of professional
education, with at least one class from each of the following 4 areas:
1. Philosophy of Adventist Education
2. Educational Psychology
3. Methods of Teaching
4. Testing and Evaluation
In order to fulfill the prerequisite requirements, these courses must
have a minimum grade of B. A student who has not met these
requirements may take courses at the graduate level. The credit earned for graduate courses used as prerequisites, however, will not apply toward the MA degree.
- Educational experience, a minimum of three
years of professional educational experience. Letter of verification
required.
- At least of one religion course
(undergraduate or graduate), with a minimum grade of C, from each
of the following areas:
1. Adventist Beliefs
2. Adventist History or Spirit of Prophecy
3. Biblical Studies
- Demonstrated word processing computer
proficiency.
- Demonstrated English
proficiency.
